Every three years, the Alexandre and Gaston Tytgat Foundation reaffirms its commitment to advancing cancer research by awarding a prize that recognizes scientific excellence. The award highlights projects that not only deepen our understanding of cancer’s causes and mechanisms but also open new perspectives for its treatment. By inviting applications from researchers working in Belgium, the Foundation seeks to encourage originality, foster collaboration, and reward innovative contributions with the potential to make a lasting impact on medical science and patient care.

[ Award Overview ]
The Alexandre and Gaston Tytgat Foundation Award will be presented for the seventeenth time in 2025.
The award carries a prize of €25,000, recognizing and supporting outstanding scientific research in the field of cancer—its causes, mechanisms, and treatments.
A summary of the work (max. 10 pages) in English, French, or Dutch. The summary should highlight the originality of the candidate’s contribution compared with other works in the same field.
A curriculum vitae, including a full list of publications, with clear references to the results cited in the summary.
An explanatory note (1 page), written in simple terms, explaining the importance of the work. At the donors’ request, this note must be provided in French.
